Welcome to ACENPEE

I am delighted to welcome you to the Home page of the Africa Centre of Excellence on New Pedagogies in Engineering Education (ACENPEE), Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. ACENPEE is a World Bank supported Centre of Excellence for Development Impact (ACE Impact). The Project, which is based on result verified funding, is aimed at improving the quality, quantity and development impact of postgraduate education in selected universities through regional specialization and collaboration by strengthening the capacities of these universities to deliver quality training and applied research. ACENPEE is focused on enhancing engineering education by experimenting with new teaching methods, developing curricula, assessing how students learn, and moving those findings into the classrooms of tomorrow’s engineers. The ultimate goal is to educate engineering leaders who can respond creatively and responsibly to 21st-century challenges. ACENPEE’s “Certificate in Engineering Education (CEE)” graduate certificate program helps graduate students, faculty members, and industry professionals in engineering and allied STEM fields improve their teaching and course design skills. Programs Overview

The M.Sc. and Ph.D programmes are generally by course work and research.

Chemical Engineering

The objective of this program is to provide advanced and specialized courses in the various options above. The trained engineers should be capable of adapting Chemical Engineering principles to solving local as well as regional problems and should have teaching and research competence and the motivation to train others providing innovation to evolving problems.

Civil Engineering

The trained civil engineer should be capable of adapting Civil Engineering principles to solving local as well as regional problems. They should also be able to train others and make academic and professional contributions in their area of specialization. The departmental postgraduate programme is geared towards the realization of these broad objectives.

Mechanical Engineering

The trained engineers should be capable of adapting Mechanical Engineering principles to solving problems and should be able to train others and make academic and professional contributions in their area of specialization. The departmental postgraduate programme is geared towards the realization of these broad objectives

SCHOLARSHIP POLICY

The Africa Center of Excellence on New Pedagogies in Engineering Education (ACENPEE) is proud to honour academically talented and exceptionally skilled students with a variety of scholarships. The Center will annually award more than $50,000 in scholarships to regional graduate students (West African Subregion) as funded by the World Bank and as accrued to the Center based on the disbursement linked indicators (DLIs).

ACENPEE has a number of Scholarships available to students based on academic merit and leadership potential. Scholarships may be provided for partial or full tuition fees and the award of such Scholarships is at the discretion of the Selection Panel. Regional Students are entitled to full scholarship while National students are entitled to Research Support.
